Susan Plasencia leads HD 37 over Nate Douglas by just over 600 votes

Rep. Susan Plasencia appeared to win a second term representing her House District 37. The Orlando Republican kept the seat in Republican hands and fend off a well-financed challenge by Democrat Nate Douglas.

As early Wednesday, Plasencia was winning almost 50.9% of the vote, with all of Seminole County and Orange County precincts reporting. Her lead stood at just 625 votes. The difference represents greater than 0.85% of the more than 74,000 total votes cast in. the race, but that’s outside the amount to trigger a recount.

That’s a lead that tightened overnight as more than 25,000 more vote-by-mail ballots were counted in Orange County. There remain more than 11,000 uncounted votes in that...
