Former Miami Beach commission candidate arrested on domestic violence charge, bonds out

A former Miami Beach commission candidate was arrested on a domestic violence charge just days after losing her race.

Marcella Novela, 45, was arrested and booked into a Miami-Dade jail Wednesday on a charge of domestic violence battery, records showed.

Her husband, Miami real estate executive Ricardo Dunin Borkowsky, 64, was also arrested on a domestic violence battery charge in connection with the same incident.

According to an incident report, officials noted a "strong odor of alcohol" emitting from Novela's breath.

The report states that Novela said she was attacked by her husband in their home.

She says Borkowsky grabbed her by the throat and pushed her into the dresser after the two go...
