Broward School Board to Again Decide Vickie Cartwright's Fate as Superintendent

The Broward County School Board is expected to take another look into the future of Dr. Vickie Cartwright as superintendent Tuesday.

With new members sworn in last week, the board will discuss the issue during a meeting expected to begin at 1 p.m. to decide whether to overturn Cartwright’s November 14 firing now that four of the members who voted for the move are no longer on the board.

Cartwright was fired with a 5-4 vote after a surprise motion by Daniel Foganholi, one of the several school board members who were appointed by Gov. Ron DeSantis. Four other DeSantis appointees — Ryan Reiter, Kevin Tynan, Manuel Serrano and school board chair Torey Alston — joined him.
