Corrine Brown files to run for Congress again — in Orlando's CD 10

Former Democratic U.S. Rep. Corrine Brown, whose conviction on 18 federal counts related to fraud was overturned last year, announced Thursday she wants to return to Congress — in the Orlando-based Florida’s 10th Congressional District.

Although her first conviction was overturned, Brown pleaded guilty last month to one count of fraud in a deal to avoid a second trial. A federal judge sentenced her to the prison time she already had served, which was about two years and eight months in federal prison.

Brown, whose old Florida’s 5th Congressional District had stretched from Jacksonville to the west side of Orlando, including part of what is now in CD 10, said she is filing her paperwork Thurs...
